Our users come to MySpace to meet friends, find and listen to new bands/music, blog, plan events, play games, and participate in user forums and groups. MySpace has revolutionized the way people interact and plan their social lives.
We are currently seeking a Director of Business & Legal Affairs to join the MySpace, Inc. Business & Legal Affairs Department, who has strong business acumen in addition to corporate and law firm legal experience in a digital media environment. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs. This position is based at MySpace's offices in Beverly Hills, CA.

Position Description

• The candidate must be a team player and business-minded lawyer who possesses good common sense and sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a desire to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic corporate environment.
• The candidate will provide legal and business advice on a wide range of issues to the business managers, technical managers, product developers and officers of the domestic business groups, as well as at the corporate level.
• The candidate must be comfortable with managing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously.
• The candidate must have experience drafting and negotiating software and technology development and licensing agreements, internet advertising standard terms and conditions, ad serving and ad product agreements, hardware and computer equipment purchase agreements, data storage agreements, facility leases, in-bound media content licensing and revenue-sharing agreements and employment and services agreements.
• The candidate has direct experience with internet advertising and marketing, terms of use and privacy policy issues, e-commerce, domain names and intellectual property, and non-disclosure agreements.
• The candidate must be highly skilled at negotiating commercial and legal issues, drafting complex commercial agreements, as well as be able to contribute strategically to the preparation of litigation briefs, complaints, answers, motions, and other court documents.

Requirements

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school; member of the bar; local candidates preferred
• 3-5 years law firm and corporate law experience combined
• Experience working in a digital media environment preferred
• Ability to offer business and legal advice to business unit leaders
• Ability to effectively evaluate legal exposure and manage risk
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Minimum 2 years of experience in drafting and negotiating agreements in a medium size digital media company
